MATCH YOUR WATCH TO YOUR CLOTHING? YOU BET!

Stop! You aren’t thinking of wearing your rubber LCD digital watch with a tuxedo, are you? Can’t do that!  Put some thought into the impact a polished presentation makes when you’re in the wild. Put together your look with these simple rules and you'll be well dressed and ready for action.

Dress watches

GOING BLACK TIE? OUT ON THE TOWN? A GALA EVENT?

Don’t sell yourself short. Press the tux. Shine your shoes, trim the beard and get a haircut. Detail the Continental GT and confirm the reservations. There is a multitude of dressy watches perfect for an evening in a tuxedo. Think Calatrava, Mr. Cartier's Tank, platinum Rolex President, JLC Master control,  A.Lange & Sohne Saxonia  and you are in business. Not sure, go black leather strap, thin profile in silver or gold.

CAN’T DO THAT?

Coordinate your colors. If you are wearing a suit this time around and not a tuxedo, you have a lot more flexibility. Use what you have to your advantage. Wear a legendary dress watch like a Calatrava. Choose to switch out the band on your diver from rubber to leather for a less traditional iteration. Go dark strap and white gold, rose gold, even stainless. You are going for that confident, polished look. You got this!

GO BUSINESS FORMAL FOR AN EVENING AT THE CLIENT DINNER

Press the dark suit.  Get the shoes in good repair and shined, your ready down to your socks! Go classic dress watch or diver with a dark conservative suit.  A little more casual would be a lighter suit and no tie. If that’s the case, get out your high-end Chrono or Pilot’s watch. Your metal band watch is more casual. The black python is dressier. A watch with a plain white face and no complications and a black leather band is as formal as it gets. The most formal dress watch will only show hours, minutes, and seconds. Complications in dress watches are simpler.

HOT LAPS AT YOUR DESK?

Around the office, a more casual look is perfect. A stainless watch is a solid choice, Get out the Pepsi, the Speedmaster, or Super Avenger and you are ready. Some say that a suit with a divers watch is a no go. This is your call, many divers work well with everything except a black tux. Racing watch styles at the office are a green light. You decide. If you need a suggestion, go with fewer complications, silver or gold, and a thinner profile.

THE READY FOR ANYTHING DIVER

Casual and sporty, the stainless diver is ready for action. You may find yourself in a more casual setting, say on a yacht in Newport Beach, the diver is right at home. Paired with jeans and boots or slacks and a blazer, you have nothing to worry about. People notice nice watches. Be ready to accept a compliment and don’t mind if someone is a fan does a double take or wants a closer look.

IWC has a clean, crisp pilot’s watch that fits the bill and is appropriate anytime and anywhere. Breitling owns the pilot’s watch so make sure to look into their classic models. There are many choices in colors, styles, and complications regardless of maker. You’re good to go anywhere with a pilot’s watch.  A pilot’s fits in whether you are chasing groceries, a new set of tires, or hanging out your local airfield.

A SPORTS WATCH TO COMPLIMENT YOUR ACTIVE LIFESTYLE

Hiking, kayaking, or master of ceremonies at the backyard BBQ, a sports watch is a perfect choice. You have a lot of options to match shorts and flip flops or seersucker and white bucks. The dress watch is not an option here. A sports watch won’t be flying off your wrist. The design and construction are such that you can focus on your activity. Make the play and don't worry about being careful with your watch.
